It is sometimes difficult to admit that you are struggling at work. We rush through life at 100 miles an hour without taking the time for necessary breaks to reflect on this question.
If you wish to talk about your difficult situation with someone or ask questions, you can contact the confidential counsellor within your organization (if one has been appointed) or the Prevention Advisor for Psychosocial Aspects of the External Service for Prevention and Protection at Work to which your company is affiliated. Every employer is obliged to be affiliated with an external service unless they have all the competencies in-house.
You can find the list of External Services for Prevention and Protection at Work here.
How to know which service your employer is affiliated with?
This information is mentioned in your work regulations. If you cannot find this information, you can ask your internal Prevention Advisor or contact the regional office of the Wellbeing Control, whose information you can find here.
How can these services help you?
Within the framework of Belgian legislation concerning wellbeing at work, you can contact them free of charge to ask your questions or talk about your work situation. They guarantee you confidentiality, anonymity, and are neutral with regard to your work situation. In addition to listening, welcoming, and providing advice, they will also enable you to initiate certain informal and formal psychosocial procedures, always within the framework of the legislation, in order to improve your professional situation.
Online tests
To identify whether what you are feeling resembles burnout, you can take the following tests which will allow a self-assessment of your professional exhaustion situation.
An online test is never a diagnosis.. Regardless of your result, do not hesitate to contact your general practitioner to discuss your situation from a medical point of view. Your general practitioner can make a diagnosis and also give you advice.
