You have 1 or more change project ideas that might appeal to you.
But how do you choose or how do you know if you're making the right choice?
To do this, it may be helpful to ask yourself whether the project aligns with your aspirations, needs and priorities.
Does the project align with your aspirations/needs?
Remember the section about aspirations and needs in "Taking stock of your current situation" , click here.
Your main aspiration or the reason for change that you defined was, for example, to achieve a better work-life balance. Ask yourself whether the change project(s) you're considering will enable you to achieve this goal.
Take the time to detail each project.
It's important to take the time to analyse in detail what the job(s) or projects you dream of will look like.
What will your daily tasks be, what will your work environment be like, will this project enable me to meet my financial needs...?
To help you, you can complete a table like this:
Change projects table
Why complete it?
It's worthwhile completing it to ensure your change project is solid.
It's better to leave your job or return to education knowing that the project you dream of achieving has a good chance of suiting you.
You can never be 100% certain of course, but you'll be launching yourself in a more informed way.
To give you an example: If someone dreams of opening a restaurant but their priority right now is to be there for their children, there will probably be a problem with working hours...
How to complete the table above?
Looking at the table, you might think that answering these questions is quite easy and doesn't require an outside perspective.
Job&Sense advises you, on the contrary, to check each element with people who do the job or project you dream of. You might be surprised. Indeed, the constraints and daily tasks specific to each job or role don't always match the image we had of them.
To help you, Job&Sense advises you to read or re-read the section: testing a job , click here.
Does the project align with your priorities?
After detailing each of your change project ideas, ask yourself whether they align with your priorities in terms of work environment, working conditions...
You defined these priorities in the section "Taking stock of your current situation". If you haven't done so yet, we advise you to revisit this section by clicking here.
You might realise that your change project ideas don't perfectly meet all your wishes. And that's normal, a 100% perfect job doesn't exist. You can nevertheless check whether it meets what was essential for you, the priorities you had defined.
Have you been able to compare your projects?
Have you been able to compare your projects against your aspirations, needs and priorities?
Is there a change project that stands out? Does it fully or partially meet your priorities? Will you be able to use your skills and strengths in this project?
The answer is NOperhaps you still need to continue your reflection or discuss it with those around you or a coach?
The answer is YES, great 👌! you'll be able to move on to building your change project by creating an action plan.
