The freelancer in difficulty

If you are going through a difficult period as a self-employed person or running a small business in trouble, it's important to know that you are not alone. In Brussels, Wallonia, and Flanders, several initiatives are available to support you, guide you, and help you restart your business.

Psychological support for freelancers

Since April 2021, freelancers can benefit from up to 4 completely free psychological care sessions with a psychologist or clinical educational therapist contracted with the nonprofit Un pass dans l’impasse.

This service is aimed at any person in psychological distress who has the status of self-employed worker (main or supplementary).

You can benefit from this support by calling free of charge from Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at 0800/300.25. This bilingual telephone line will guide you to the service.

There is also the 7JSanté website, an internet site that aims to promote the health and well-being of self-employed individuals and small business managers. 7 Jours Santé offers information, resources, and sometimes access to consultations to help manage stress and burnout.

Brussels

  •  The Centre d’Entreprise en Difficulté (CEd Relance) is a valuable resource if you feel the need for support to face a crisis situation. The CED offers you personalized support to regain confidence and rethink your entrepreneurial project. CEd Relance is there to listen to you and find solutions during an appointment, individual or collective, with their specialized accountants, legal experts, and lawyers.

These appointments are free, without commitment, and accessible to any entrepreneur with a business headquarters in Brussels.

  • Oasis is a program designed to support entrepreneurs going through a crisis situation, with more than 5 employees. The support is provided by experienced entrepreneurs who share their know-how and network to help turn the situation around.

  •  The Reload Yourself program also offers you specific assistance. You will benefit from multidisciplinary supervision, with coaches and experts ready to help you restart, restructure, and consolidate your business. This regular follow-up will help you avoid past mistakes and give new momentum to your company. A small contribution to costs depending on your situation may be requested for the support.

Wallonia

  • The Ré-Action, program, coordinated by Wallonie Entreprendre, helps you identify blocking points in your business and implement concrete solutions to rectify the situation. By surrounding yourself with business management experts and coaches, this program will allow you to step back, analyze your difficulties, and give new momentum to your project.

Flanders

  • The organisation Dyzo is an organization that offers psychosocial, legal, and financial support to self-employed entrepreneurs in difficulty. Their services are free and aim to help entrepreneurs find solutions to problems, whether involving debts, burnout, or legal questions. They can also accompany them through complex procedures like reorganization or cessation of activity.
