When we are faced with a job search, we feel alone and helpless.
Yet there is a multitude of job search aids that exist. These aids are, unfortunately, often unknown.
Job&Sense gives you as much information as possible below, but know that the main thing is to take action.
Dare to use the help that exists, dare to inquire.
Don't stay alone.
You certainly know the 3 regional employment assistance organizations:
Depending on your place of residence, register with one of these 3 organizations.
It's worth registering even if you haven't been in the job market for some time, even if you're not entitled to unemployment benefits, and even if you're currently employed. In the latter case, if you're looking for a new job, you just need to register to be considered a job seeker.
Why register?
Because being considered a job seeker opens doors to:
- Free or cheaper training: in languages, IT, and in all trades.
- Free coaching.
- Individual or group support to help you create your CV, write your cover letter, prepare for interviews, ….
- Places to work undisturbed with access to a computer and printer.
- Your future employer may, under certain conditions, benefit from measures to hire you at lower cost.
Other actors also exist to help you in your job search.
In Brussels
You can contact Actiris partners directly who run Active Job Search Workshops (ARAE).
The complete list can be found here, but you have for example Orientaeuro, Skillbuilders, Manpower, Risesmart…
It's best to choose based on where you live and what is offered.
In Wallonia,
You can contact the nearest Maison de l’Emploi or Carrefour Emploi Formation et Orientation directly.
In Flanders
You can contact VDAB partners directly or go to a "Werkwinkel", a local service point. Training, individual coaching, workshops and orientation tests are accessible, even if you don't receive benefits. Solutions also exist if you don't yet master Dutch well.
